DIY Orphean MkII
Sensitivity of 114dB/1Watt/1m, a wide frequency response: 270Hz-22kHz and a very friendly impedance behaviour making the Orphean a perfect match for any type of amplifier and any sized listening room.

Accurate, clean, detailed, transparent and dynamic - just a few words describing the sound of the Orphean MkII system in bringing the music close to you, as close as possible....

The extraordinarily high sensitivity (114dB!) makes it possible to use a wide variety of top quality amplifiers to drive the Orphean MkII from 200 mWatts of output power and upward.

Orphean MkII

The Orphean horns using co-axial compression drive units are the only commercially available horns crossing as low as 270Hz. This way their presentation acts as a point source and with optimal integrated bass you do not hear loudspeakers, only music showing every detail with stable imaging. The integrated tweeter starts to blend in perfectly at 7kHz so that the most important midrange (270Hz-7kHz) is free of any phase problems that usually disturbs accurate reproduction of your music.

For overall quality in sound it is needed to use an additional high quality active bass system (not a subwoofer!) like our Reference Compact bass system, or even better, our Reference Ultra system for optimal integration.

All introducing information above is related to the Orphean MkII as complete system itself which is using the same horns as shown here as DIY-kit which you can purchase without the other parts if you have your own thoughts using the horns for different 2" drivers or when you already own a pair of BMS 4592ND compression drivers.

The Orphean horns have their natural Fc set to 220Hz, they are 55cm in diameter at their mouth and 50cm in length. The used back cover is 20cm in diameter and 38cm long.

The horns in the DIY kits are unpainted. They can be ordered primed, primed with a standard paint finish (all "flat" colours are possible) or primed with luxury paint (metallic or pearl shades in any colour). Coloured paint options include a thick transparent layer with a polished surface.

Orphean MkII Filter

In case you own a pair of BMS 4592ND/8 compression drivers then you may add our external filter for this combination to your shopping basket. This filter is designed for 8 ohm drivers though, if you have a 16 ohm driver then you can't use this filter unless you replace the diaphragms for 8 ohm versions which you can purchase from here and select from the options provided.

The standard crossover (hard-wired) is built-up with high quality parts such as Duelund carbon/silver resistors, pure silver wiring with cotton in oil isolation and paper in oil capacitors for the tweeter.

On request we can supply our crossovers with Duelund Coherent Audio VSF or PIO (paper in oil capacitors) with copper or silver foil as conductor.

If you already own the MkI or the MkII version and want to upgrade then please select from the options provided.

Select from the options (at extra costs) your preference for changing standard delivered filter components to Duelund Coherent Audio capacitors of your choice.

The Orphean MkII filter can not be used for other horns as these are designed specificly for use in combination with the Orphean horns and BMS 4292ND/8 compression drivers..

Modified, matched as pair and prepared for use in our Orphean system curing some inherent problems from the stock BMS drive units resulting in cleaner and less resonant output.

These drive units can also be used within other applications and other horns than the Orphean suitable to adapt 2" co-axial compression drivers.

The Orphean MkII crossover can then not be used as these are designed specificly for use in combination with the Orphean.
