ORIS 150 and Lowther PM6a (BD-Design)

Hi Thomas,

Before I start to fiddle about with other speakers (Fostex etc.), please
let me know from your experience ... could changing the driver add more
room and stage to the ORIS horns???

The horns are directive and pretty clear regarding the time domain reproduced. These reasons gives the system a relative small sweetspot.

Could the AER MK3 be the solution for my subjective problems? My listening
distance is about 3 meters in front of the speakers and my listening base
ist about 3 meters wide.

With an AER driver this problem is less but still present. The PM6A's do not have the real magnet strength and high frequency extention (similar to the Fostex FE206E's) so that you only have high frequencies pretty much on axis, off-axis makes them sound more dull due to this.

3m is pretty short distance, further away opens the sound (more reflections from the room) making the sweetspot wider. You can remove the MDF back cover and the woolfelt circle to open the sound for your listening distance. This gives less body to the sound but with the PM6A's this would not be much of a problem.

Let me know your experiences with this "test"...

Ciao,

Bert
