Ideal Cross over slope (Off Topic)

Hi Henry,

I’m curious about the ideal crossover slope for the AER MD3. With the 200
hz and 250 hz horns what is the actual crossover slope used, and if you
could change it to an "ideal" slope, would you change it or keep it the
same. The reason I'm asking is that I have a DEQX digital processor that
lets me chose what ever slope I want; however, rather than spending
endless hours trying dozens of different crossover slopes, which I will
probably do anyway (I think Freud would call that anal retentive), why do
double work when I can learn from your many years of expertise.

The Oris horns have averaged a 18dB slope (depending on the driver used and back chamber configuration). Both the Oris 200 and 250's have their crossover point at 220Hz. Optimal you could filter these with 12dB and the bass with 24dB to have the crossover range mirrored (drivers should then all be connected in the same phase!).

I am not sure if the DEQX will be an improvement if used to filter the Oris horns but you can always give it a try.

Ciao,

Bert
