The silicone should be in between the mounting ring and the PVC back
chamber. This to secure the position of the ring before drilling and using
the screws to secure this permanently.

Since the ring fits so well to the wall of the PVC, after we put the ring in, we can no longer apply sealant between the ring and the wall of the back chamber. So should we apply the sealant to the ring's wall first and then slide it down the PVC back chamber?
