Series crossover info (BD-Design)

by GC, Wednesday, October 19, 2005, 22:26 (6763 days ago)

Hello to all,

Can someone provide information or links about series crossovers? I want to calculate a series crossover (theory) for my poor man's Quasar to have a starting point from where I can finetune it with my ears....(practice) ;-)

Thanks in advance!

I wanted to give you a link to Tony Gee's site where a lot experiments with serial filter was published. The link seems "dead" as if the site is gone...

This was the original link, perhaps somebody else has a new and working address?

http://home.hetnet.nl/~geenius/

In principle the serial filter is calculated the same way as a parallel filter but then connected differently. With an open panel you'll also have to think of the needed EQ which makes it harder to calculate.

How is your poor man's quasar build-up?

Ciao,

Bert

Hi Bert,

Thank you so far!

How is your poor man's quasar build-up?

The poor man's Quasar has the following line up:

2x Eminence Delta 15 LF
1x Saba (AlNiCo) greencone full range 20 cm
1x Saba (AlNiCo) greencone tweeter 10 cm

I've tried to copy your Quasar "enclosure" as good as possible...;-)

When the budget can be stretched, I want to use an active crossover and Hypex amp. for the woofers.

Regards,

Teigetje
