Singulars as sub with FW208N? (Singular)

by Giovanni, Ravenna, Tuesday, March 13, 2007, 18:17 (3965 days ago)

If I wanted to change speakers I wouldn't know were to stock my Singulars with FE206E. So just a thought: if I use them with a 8" or 10" woofer, as a TL sub, what would be the result? It is enough if I get 35-40Hz flat. Then I could try the 206 in a front horn, so the woofer would match it.

I have plenty of amps to dedicate to each driver (ZenV9, UCD180, various Tripath amps from 5W to 200W )

Is it worth?

I have tested the Fostex F200A's in them and these gave good bass down to below 40Hz, a dedicated woofer would not make that worse...

So, it is worth...

Singulars as sub with FW208N?

by Giovanni, Ravenna, Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 11:29 (3964 days ago) @ Bert

Hi Bert,

I found now the price of FW208N at Madison(it is not in your site) In Europe would be more than 200€. It looks like too expensive for just a try.

Any hint for a cheap driver to have an idea of Singulars behaviour in the 40hz-200hz range?

I only show the type of drivers I usually keep on stock, all drivers are available on request. The FW208N would be 189 Euro (including VAT).

Any hint for a cheap driver to have an idea of Singulars behaviour in the
40hz-200hz range?

A cheap driver will give a cheap(er) sound and won't show the true capabilities of the Singular system if not used with a quality driver.

Ciao,

Bert
