Oris 250 Questions (Oris Horns)

by xcortes @, Wednesday, June 20, 2007, 21:08 (6148 days ago)

I will be ordering a set of Oris 250/8 soon. Plans are to use them with Fostex 206-esr drivers and build, as bass modules, two arrays of small MCM 5" woofers powered by an gainclone amp each. The main amp will be a 71A SET (750 milliwatts). I will order the Oris as soon as I sell some stuff that hopefully will go fast.

I have a question in terms of size because I'm about to start working on the bass modules and on the bases for the Oris:

- What's the external diameter of the back chamber?
- What's it's lenght?

Thanks

Diameter is 250mm and the length is 380mm

Oris 250 Questions

by xcortes @, Friday, June 22, 2007, 05:39 (6147 days ago) @ Bert

thanks bert.

I have another question. I am also considering the 150. I've seen that it has a ported back chamber and that some people use it without the back. Can it be used with a closed back chamber as in the 200 and 250?

thanks,

xavier

Xavier,

It can be used with a closed back chamber but I would suggest to leave the option "open" to experiment with this. The Oris 200 and 250 are also not completely closed at the back, pressure can still leave the internal volume.

Also, it depends on the driver used in the horn. Some "need" it to be closed others prefer to have it completely open or partly closed..
