hello Bert

thanks for your reply of my email.

"I do not like the finish of the system though, it looks like a cheap plastic copy of something else. It is too shiny all over…."

i think that's a valid critic, a friend of mine had the same opinion. As i painted only one speaker, i can change, and make it less shiny.

I would aprechiate the opinion of other members of this forum.

Hello Angelo,

As far as I can see from the photo you did a perfect job, I have never been able to get even close to such a high level of perfection. If you like it shiny, then keep it that way, they are your speakers. On the other hand, your friend has made you doubt. Did you consider in which way they would fit best into your room?

Kind regards,
Eddie

Hello Angelo,

The speaker looks very slick; some people like the shiny look and the woodprint.
For me; the shiny black and woodprint is not my favourite. Overall I find the complete speaker too rounded; round horn, rounded cabinet.
It just an opinion; I haven't studied arts or designing, etc.
But it looks very professional, great job !
And if you like it this way, leave it just as it is; it's your speaker

My amplifier is referred to as - the black shoebox - by my friends.

Regards,
Rudolf

You have a big round shiny red horn sticking out there and some think that the rest of the cabinet is "too shiny"? Not in my opinion. It looks great to me. I have a bass cabinet with glossy black paint against a glossy white horn. Horns are too much to hide, so you might as well make a statement with it.

it depends what you want to achive.

if you want to go more towards commercial products, you have to be aware that horns for some people have a "lifestyle" element, they could be seen as a part of extraordinary elbeit eccentric piece of modern design in contemporary homes.

the way that avantgarde played on that card and the market response they've got ultimately changed a paradigm of horn design and this is not to be underestimated.

if this is the case i would suggest that you put 3 different approaches you exposed (natural wood veneer, black bass front, red horn) into a balance. but that is not an easy work. i am sure there are many talents in brasil today when it comes to modern architecture and design. why don't you invite some of them to see what is going to come out, following your strict rules submitted by the laws of acoustics. at least this is what i would do.

if you are doing it for a beauty of your listening room, just follow your heartbeat. they are for your eyes and ears only.
