Speaking of amps - AltmaGC BYOB? (Off Topic)

by anubisgrau, Saturday, July 28, 2007, 13:43 (6114 days ago)

I've noticed lots of enthusiasm for digital amps here on the forum, but I haven't seen anyone using AltmaGC BYOB that has been championed by many as an ultimate solution for horns (such as Avantgarde Trio). I've heard of users who switched from amps such as EAR 834T or even the original Audio Note Ongaku to AltmaGC's BYOB.

I will be able to testimony more on it in 1-2 weeks when my new system gets completely assembled and it includes BYOB amp too. I can also have a Trend amp for occasional use (from a friend) and I own a basic version of T-amp so I can make a shoot out.

Before that it would be interesting to hear if there are any users around.

No experience myself but definitely interested to hear your views.

Now, what would be really interesting would be if you took your kit around to Garner's and listened to the BYOB up against the the CrazyA!

Just saw this Gordan....

Man, we will of course "investigate" the amp together. Seems my Holiday is over..right?

Should this amp you point at be a better one than the CrazyA's, it will come as a big surprice. But who knows?

However I would like to point out that even my 114 db/watt speakers really needs more than a 10 wattage supplier. In most cases though. :pleasantry:

I just came from a Mozart/Strauss concert in Vienna. Dynamics...are you crazy. My speakers/amp combi have to do the same. No limits, no cracks, no holding back, no distortion....just liberated air alternations.

As our best recordings shows tremendous dynamics a 10 watt'er soon run out of juice. I had 8 watts 300B's spitting it's best into the voice coils, but still.... this is not enough for me. It did not present the headroom related to real life music events.

Now understand me right. I do not point at the wattage shortage being a hindering of acheiving heavenly sound. Soon enough you will hear here what I mean.

CU in the :teasing: Belgrade in the weekend.
