Change magnets (Drive Units)
Dear Bert,
Is it usefull to change a PM6C speakermagnet for another type like PM2C?
If so, must the magnets be magnetised again?
Can the magnets easily be changed, or is it something only a special craftsman (... like you...
) can do?

It can be usefull depending on what you want to "improve"...

No, ceramic magnets usualy hold their strength.

Managing four bolts in a magnetic environment, some patience and carefulness is all that it takes but when it is the first time it can be a bit exciting though...

Oh yes, the PM2C will be a lot more but also a bit forward sounding. In an Oris horn that is not a problem. The magnet of the PM2C is pretty big though (read wide and therefore blocking the rear waves of the diaphragm...).

Not an issue for many people though and applying some felt to absorb (see Fostex tweaks around) will help some.
And when I'm not confident
You are always welcome to drop them here, it mostly takes me less than 10 minutes.
