Hi All,
More than one year has been passed since my Oris Reference Ultra started singing.
I had been busy/crazy at Sony SCD-1 modifications since last year but ended up this spring and has been working on Garrard 301 restoration.
I posted some pictures in Audio Asylum.
Also more pictures in my web page, only pictures;
Oris Reference Ultra
Garrard 301 Project
Attic audio room
Garrard 301 overhaul

Hi Kohjin,
I can use all pictures I guess, in combination with your e-mail I think I have enough info to make you a nice page in the Showroom...
Ciao,

show room?
Why do you people have to redefine the term awesome every 6 months?

Wow! Beautiful gear. It must sound incredible! :Y:
I'm curious... can you elaborate on the mods you've made to your SCD-1? It looks like you've bypassed the output stage and added one externally. Is this corrct?

Hi Hatfield,
Wow! Beautiful gear. It must sound incredible!
Oris Reference Ultra got married to awesome gear, it's incredible in deed.
I'm curious... can you elaborate on the mods you've made to your SCD-1?
It's a long story. I made the VSE Level 4 Upgrade first then almost completely followed the mods by 'jhietbrink' posted in AA;
jhietbrink's mod.
I'm using a professional 10MHz external reference (picture at far left underneath) and small 400$ 45.1584MHz DDS synthesizer combo.
I don't use the Sony analog stage at all, I hate it.
Above mod brought excellent result but I was not satisfied

and finally started the passive solution, you are correct.
Tried a few transformers the best was JT-11-BMCF from Jensen Transformer so far.
Also have tried so many filters together with software simulations.
It is very important to use the right filter for SACD performance.
Currently I'm using a simple 100KHz 12dB/Oct LPF I know I need some more investigation.
These mods had brought great improvements but since I heard the beauty of vinyl I seldom play CD/SACD anymore at all, I'm even thinking sell SCD-1 away.
Hope above help,
Kohjin

Hope you don't have too many CD's left useless on the shelf.:-)
Have you heard the TwinDac+? With this DAC i rarely play the vinyl anymore inspite of the medias virtues.
