positioning the Oris 200 (BD-Design)

by GC, Sunday, August 21, 2005, 19:32 (6816 days ago)

Is there a min/max distance between the Oris 200 and the base driver beneath it? Are they meant to be aligned on a vertical axis?

Should the Oris 200 be at ear level? I see in the showroom sections that some have it hung on a stand, while others have it put on top of a nicely built BD15 compact chasis.

Since I'm not too sure what chasis and base driver I end up into (still searching), so I am thinking of hanging up the Oris 200 like a flash light on a stand.

Any comments?

Francis

positioning the Oris 200

Hi Francis,

Is there a min/max distance between the Oris 200 and the base driver
beneath it? Are they meant to be aligned on a vertical axis?

Optimal position would be the front of the horn in vertical line with the front of the bass driver (like done with the Compact system).

Should the Oris 200 be at ear level? I see in the showroom sections that
some have it hung on a stand, while others have it put on top of a nicely
built BD15 compact chasis.

This depends on how you prefer to perceive the sound. I like to have them a bit higher than ear level pointing over my head and to hear the musicians in front of me. I hate to listen to sound coming from the ceiling because it distrurb my perception of reality.

Since I'm not too sure what chasis and base driver I end up into (still
searching), so I am thinking of hanging up the Oris 200 like a flash light
on a stand.

No problem with that but have the flash light pointing to your direction. The Fostex FE206E's only have real high frequencies on axis.

Ciao,

Bert
