Optional Connections (includes network)
The major advantage of the CrazyT is that you can create any PC configuration to play your music without any influencing the quality, the CrazyT is never the limiting factor!

Note: To be able to have different PC's connected through a network you'll need to have Windows XP Professional or Vista Ultimate/Business installed on all computers which need RDC (Remote Desktop Control) for full authorisation to play music from an external PC or network drive.

Several options described below are only possible with the CrazyT, if you use a normal USB DAC then it is not advised to use a long USB cable (data error!) and the suggested Wireless USB network hub option will then not work properly either.

  • Basic stand alone situation: Laptop or PC with the CrazyT connected with a simple USB cable (with external HDD if the internal disc is not big enough) or the same with a long good quality USB cable (up to 10m is not a problem) so that you can have the laptop or PC closer to your listenig position.

Advantage: No network required, easy to setup, maximum speed and relatively cheap.

Disadvantage: Cables hanging around, no remote control options, Laptop (limited HDD space) or PC (enough HDD space possible) close to the system, usually having audible noise.

  • Network situation I: Laptop or PC connected directly to the CrazyT (similar to the stand alone situation) and another PC to remotely manage the Audio Laptop or PC using RDC (Remote Desktop Control). If you have a Smartphone or Pocket PC then you can use those as basic remote control just the same (through a wireless network connection).
  • Network situation II: Somewhat different than situation "I" where now the Audio PC will be operated directly and the music is played from a network drive or any other PC present in the network. Of course it is possible to have situation "I" and "II" combined but this will make things a bit more complex to set-up properly.

Advantage: Remote control options, stored music elsewhere in case of many CD's (less noise).

Disadvantage: Similar to the basic stand alone situation plus a slower datatransfer due to the network maximum speed where a wireless network sometimes can be annoying.

  • Network situation III (our favourite!): Using a Belkin Network USB hub connected directly to the CrazyT (through USB) without the need to have any PC connected close to the system. This setup can be wireless (you'll then need the device to be connected to an acces point) or using a basic network cable which connects the Belkin hub to your network. Playing your music can then be done with any laptop or PC on which the software for the CrazyT is installed. This laptop or PC must of course be connected to the same network to make it work.

Advantage: No extra laptop or PC required, anything is possible, hardly any visible cables hanging around (even a wireless mouse and keyboard can be connected to the same Network USB hub), no noise whatsoever disturbing the sound (the PC is 100% isolated from the audio system!) and everything on the computer side can be changed, replaced or updated without any negative influence to the audio system itself.

Disadvantage: More expensive and no functional remote control unless you use a laptop or other (small) device like a smartphone which is connected to the network (usually wireless) with RDC installed to control the main computer. To be able to use RDC you'll need to have Windows XP Professional or Vista Business (or Ultimate) installed for full authorized access.
