CrazyA (discontinued)
First Class Audio Amplifier, designed for accuracy and musicality with extremely fast and dynamic, extended bandwitdh: 5Hz - 210kHz (-3dB with 8 ohm load) and tuned optimally for high sensitive loudspeakers.

For a long time being a Tube enthusiast I found the need to search for an alternative amplifier that not only sounded as good as what I have but also giving me the pleasure to play music the whole day long without to worry about the life-time of tubes in general and power consumption.

Here it is...

Rear side of the CrazyA Dual Mono main amplifier...

Many amplifiers have been tried here before on my own system and brought elsewhere to try them in other environments. Several amplifiers (class D and T's )  were tried but none of them sounded as musical as the tube amplifiers I was using. Truly a disappointment and even weird reading around the Web where you can find so many raving reviews!

Together with some friends who shared all those experiments we came to the conclusion that all these "switching" amplifiers add something artificial to the sound and lack of real dynamics. Just play a good recorded piano on a dynamical system and you instantly hear how a piano has changed to a synthesizer trying to sound like a piano.

Truly disappointed after our costly search we ended up with an amplifier used for a long time already in combination with our Oris systems, the BD30. As last resort we connected that amp just to hear how it would stand against those "modern" amplifiers...

It was truly crazy to learn that the standard BD30 (tuned for bass only) wiped the floor with all the amps we've tried before!

A piano sounded like a piano again, no greyness masking details, no artificial "noise" making your brain crazy after a few hours listening, even at high levels!

Still, the sound was not as good as the tube amp provided in some ways. Although the details were more clear, the stage was more transparent, the bass was much more tight and the overall impression was way more dynamic but somehow the sound was not as smooth, open and friendly as with the tube amps...

Reasons enough to explore the amp further and trying to improve it to get it closer to the tube sound without loosing all the good things and we've succeeded! Never thought that a basic "bass" amplifier design used for years could grow into an extremely good sounding main amplifier... Crazy isn't it?

  • tuned optimally for high sensitive loudspeakers
  • extreme low power consumption: less than 5Watt per channel (idle mode)
  • optimal tuned gain for use with the CrazyT (PC DAC)CrazyV (TVC pre) and our own loudspeaker systems
  • thick solid pure copper cooling plate centrally mounted for equal temperature between both channels
  • high quality internal mains cabling (Kemp Elektroniks) and high quality mains connector (Gold Plated Furutech)
  • very short signal path with pure silver internal wiring with silk/oil isolation
  • heavy duty black Anodized Aluminum luxury housing similar to the Crazy series for a perfect match in looks.
