Alternative 75Ohm plug/jack to WBTNextg. (Off Topic)
Hi all,
I am upgrading my DAC and I like to use a better plug and jack for digital
input than standart rca. I have ordered a Nextgen plug(male) and a
jack(female), but I was strongly disappointed as I receved it. They are
made of a very cheap locking plastic and arn't worth a percent of the
price they cost I think, wich is 45€, so they will go back to the dealer
that's for sure. What could I use as alternative? I thought about using Neutrik XLR or BNC.
Is this better then rca for this purpose?greetings Adrian
Hi,
check the input impedance of your digital in. XLR as used by AES/EBU is 110Ohms, BNC as most commonly used in consumer electronics is 75Ohms. Treat yourself to a BNC: these have generally Teflon as insulators and goldplated contacts MINUS the ultrahighendextracost for being licked into shape by virgin fairies in the moonlight.
Regards,
Peter.
