Quasar (BD-Design)

Hello!
I'm in the midle of building Quasar open baffle and I have some issues:
First....I have to replace Fostex with Supravox 215 rtf bicone but in Quasar design the open back of the Fostex is a kind of "horn loading"?

It seems for Fostex(low qts) is more suitable and I wonder if it works on the Supravox driver (qts=0,53) or should I try to make the same 15" open back also.

Another question is for 15" bass drivers open back......is that open back a horn loading ...and is more suitable for Bert 15" low qts driver or it will works also for qts=1.2 driver as well.

I want to replace Bert 15" with Alpha 15A with qts=1.2.

Any thoughts?

Thx.

Hi Fus,

The thickness of the panel and the "tube" behind the driver does boost a certain frequency range which full-range drivers like to have, for the Supravox its better not to have this tube behind it.

It seems for Fostex(low qts) is more suitable and I wonder if it works on
the Supravox driver (qts=0,53) or should I try to make the same 15" open

Another question is for 15" bass drivers open back......is that open back

A high Q driver will give much more bass than a low Q driver but the quality will be poor...

Nothing seems the same except the panel dimensions and even that is something you want to change regarding the use of the Supravox driver.

All I can say is that everything is related (drivers, panel dimensions and thicknesses) to make the design as shown work well. I can't predict what will happen unless I have experimented with the same different drivers in the same panel...

Ciao,

Bert

Thx. Bert.
The panel I want to remain on the same dimmensions.
After all that you tell me maybe I could make the open back a little larger than 15".Maybe something like that picture ...view from the top.

What do you think? That design would be more suitable for my drivers?
Thx.

Hi Fus,

Yes, such panel will the least disturb/help the drivers.

Bert
