base filter for fe206+oris200+compact 15 (BD-Design)

Hi,

Is this the same 82nF if I use Oris 200 + FE206E with 15" base compact box?

Francis

Hi Dominic,

This one but then with 82nF instead of the 150nF.

From there you can tune the filter to your room/taste. Increasing the
first resistor gives deeper bass and lowering the second capacitor

gives

more mid-bass. Play with the values and listen to the changes so that

you

hear what you're doing.

Ciao,

Bert

Right. I'm constructing it. I'll try out different cap values to play with and share with you all. Just thought that the 82nF cap is not very changeable in value:-)

hi Francis
The 82nf that you use is in mine setup 390nf! i use the bd3 and for the bass bd15 in the reverence cabinet.
I hope that some people with a good and satisfied playing system post the values here.
Only for trying and learning
the oris is a good sound system the only tweak is the filter it can made your sound like heaven, or can made the sound less than a yoko speaker.
Its very quiet here on the www board
i hope that people share their experiences.

I have the wood saw'ed today for the base cabinet. I hope I can test drive in a week. Given yr suggestion, I'll solder in a socket to make replacing the cap easier without ironing for the testing. Actually, you're right, as I'm not using BD30 and BD15, so my mileage would be different from yours.

But it seems you have witnessed a big difference of sound quality when you changed the cap value.

Somewhere I've seen on the forum here that in my case using Oris 200 and FE206E, the cut off freq is at around 250Hz, so the base line filter has to cater for that.

Well, ...

This is what i mean
the only postings in this forum are questions to Bert.
and he is very helpfull

he give us a basis filter that is already very good and a good starting point.
But i think every room with his diferent accoustics needs fine tuning
that is also a strong point from the Oris system,
but its very hard to get it right.
There is the volume of the bass the first resistor for the subbass and the second cap for the balance between upper and lower horn.
if you chance 1 thing everything chances.
I hope that i get some info from users that already tryed the different things just that i can try it to.

how long did other users work on theire filter to get it work good?
i hope that i get some posts
Robert
